Over the past few months, with the conversion from traditional to digital sketching, I really struggled getting odd auto-shapes down well. The solution? Plunk down one afternoon and sketch as you normally would on paper. It felt weird, but with the experience I had on the tablet, combined with the concerted effort to improve on something that I felt I wasn't up-to-snuff with, I was able to produce this pic of a vintage Auburn 851 Speedster (The classic boattail car)! Let that be proof that one CAN improve if they WANT to improve.
Oh, and of course no car pic of mine is complete nowadays without some character interaction, so I decided to have Artimus confidently assuring Livingston that they'll slip by this patch of woods unnoticed. In a rare vintage car. Wah wah!
The Auburn Speedster belongs to its respective owners. Artimus & Livingston and the artwork belong to me.
Absolute top-notch perspective and linework on the Speedster here, along with the details. Good luck to Artimus and Livingston in not getting noticed, though! Really digging the background here as well with its earthy tones and the blur effect used, as if to illustrate the car's motion, well done!
I've really gotten back to the thick outlines again like I used to do traditionally. It really helps the linework stand out. Thanks for the vote of confidence, AM!
